There are many precious metals to consider investing in today. From the king of the metals, gold, to the fairly new palladium, the choices are vast for coins. Here are some of the top coins in various metals to consider adding to your collection.
Gold is the biggest investment metal. It has a long-standing history of worth with mankind that doesn’t look to be ending any time soon. There are so many gold bullion and commemorative coins to choose from that that options can be overwhelming. America has a many gold coins to offer including gold American Eagles and gold American Buffalo coins, both rich in patriotic symbols. From Canada, you have the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins, which have come in .9999% fine gold all the way up to .99999% fine gold, making them some of the purist gold coins on the market today. South Africa offers the Krugerrand, which could be said to be the coin that started the whole gold coin craze. Other gold coin options include the gold Panda coin from China, the Philharmonic gold coin from Austria, the Britannia from Britain, and the gold Nugget coin from Australia.
Silver, while it may not be as popular as its big brother gold, still holds its own in the investing world. There are silver coins a plenty! America offers the silver Eagle coin as well as the America the Beautiful silver coin series. Canada has the silver Maple Leaf coins that have been available since 1988. Other notable silver bullion coins include the Mexican Silver Libertad, the Chinese Silver Panda, the Australian Kangaroo and Kookaburra coins, and the silver Philharmonic coin from Austria.
Platinum and palladium coins are much newer to the investing scene, though you still have a good variety to choose from. Platinum coins can be found in the American Eagle and Canadian Maple Leaf coins, as well as the platinum Kangaroo from Australia and the platinum Panda from China. Palladium coins are scarcer at the moment, as fewer countries have produced bullion coins made from this precious metal. Canada, however, does currently offer a palladium Maple Leaf coin that was first minted in 2005. There is currently some talk of a palladium American Eagle coin being made, though it is still in the beginning phases of testing for public interest.
